Your Personal Tarot Card of the Year for 2026
And What It Means for You
Depending on which school of thought you follow, 2026 is collectively either the Year of The Magician or the Year of the Wheel of Fortune. (Personally, I believe both archetypes are at play and you can hear more about why in my full 2026 energy forecast.)
But beyond the collective theme, there’s something even more powerful to explore:
your personal Tarot card of the year.
This card reveals the core lesson, archetypal energy, and spiritual invitation you’ll be working with throughout 2026.
How to Calculate Your Personal Tarot Card for 2026
To find your Tarot card of the year, you’ll add together:
Your birth month + your birth day + 2026
Example 1
My birthday is May 4, so the calculation looks like this:
05 + 04 + 2026 = 2035
Then reduce the number by adding the digits together:
2 + 0 + 3 + 5 = 10
That means my personal Tarot card for 2026 is The Wheel of Fortune. Or if I want to follow the traditional numerology, I would reduce down further:
1 + 0 = 1
And my personal Tarot card for 2026 is The Magician.
Example 2
Let’s say your birthday is December 13:
12 + 13 + 2026 = 2051
2 + 0 + 5 + 1 = 8
Your Tarot card of the year would be Strength.
Reducing the Number: Two Schools of Thought
Here’s where Tarot philosophy comes in.
✦ The Classic View
In traditional numerology, numbers are reduced down to 9.
So if you land on 10, you would reduce it further:
1 + 0 = 1 → The Magician
✦ The Modern / Tarot-Centric View
In newer Tarot interpretations, you only need to reduce down to 21, since there are 22 Major Arcana cards (but the first is 0, so you can't add up to that!).
This means 10 stays 10, 11 stays 11, and so on.
✦ The Pocket Mystic Approach ✨
If your number is above 9, I like to work with both cards:
-
The lower number (under 9) shows the core theme of the year
-
The higher-numbered card acts as a supporting archetype, adding nuance and depth
Think of it as your lead role and your supporting cast for the year ahead.
